We realise that you lead a very busy lifestyle, which is why we use state-of-the-art CEREC technology to produce ceramic crowns in a matter of hours. CEREC crowns are easy, convenient, and the results are even better than traditional crowns. At our office, you can sit down and relax while we complete your restoration. Within a couple of hours, you will be on your way to complete all your other important tasks.
What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics or Ceramic Reconstruction. CEREC technology takes dental impressions quickly for dental restorations. This dental technology makes it possible for dentists to construct restorations within an hour and a half. Traditional restorations involve waiting for the dental restorations to be custom-made in a lab- which can take a long time. CEREC, along with the team at Smith and Van Lierop can help you achieve your desired smile in a shorter amount of time.
How do we create CEREC dental crowns?
- Step 1: First, we inform our patients about the advantages of CEREC crowns before we begin treatment.
- Step 2: We use a camera to capture a three-dimensional photograph of the tooth.
- Step 3: We design the contours of the restoration as a 3D model on a computer monitor.
- Step 4: We complete the final dental crown. We will also take final photographs and create a customised maintenance programme.
- Step 5: During the last step, we place the restoration into your mouth. The final result is a ceramic restoration that looks and feels very much like natural dental enamel.
Why should I choose CEREC dental crowns?
A CEREC® dental crown has many advantages over conventional crowns, including:
The advanced CEREC system creates crowns that reflect light and appear are more lifelike. We can match ceramic crowns very closely to the existing colour of your teeth. This makes them aesthetically preferable to traditional crowns.
Fast turnaround time
A single tooth CEREC crown usually takes about 120 minutes. We spend a good portion of that time milling and designing the dental crown. If multiple crowns are needed, then more time is required.
Although CEREC crowns can cost more than traditional crowns, CEREC crowns are less expensive in the long run. This is because CEREC crowns save you from having to pay for the temporary crown and the extra appointments to place the permanent crown.
CEREC crowns provide a more comfortable and secure fit. Placing and removing temporary crowns can be an uncomfortable and drawn out process that may cause sensitivity to the treated tooth. Since CEREC crowns do not require temporary crowns, you can avoid this discomfort and inconvenience altogether.
CEREC Dental Crowns saves and protects the natural tooth
Both traditional crowns and CEREC protect the natural tooth underneath from decay and damage. However, since CEREC crowns are permanent right away, the temporary crown is not needed. Temporary crowns do not protect the tooth as well as the permanent crown. Since ceramic dental crowns consist of soft tissue material, they can also help your gums grow back around your tooth. dental
Ceramic dental crowns are more durable than composite resin material used in traditional crowns. This means that your ceramic crown will last longer and be more resistant to chipping.
